Why do I have continuous weight gain after pregnancy?

Many women are faced with post-pregnancy weight gain. Sometimes the weight gain does not end when you deliver your baby. Even when you are no longer pregnant and already recovering from childbirth, the scale goes up forever.

There are a couple of reasons why this happens:

It’s just your body adjusting
During the first few months after delivery, your body is still adjusting. It has not returned to normal operation yet. The adaptation period depends on your body. Some women are lucky. They have already started to lose weight weeks after pregnancy, while some women are not so lucky.

Give your body time to adjust. Allow 2 months after delivery before trying diet and exercise tricks.

Fluid retention
If you are still very swollen after delivering your baby, it is due to fluid retention. One of the tricks to lose some of the excess fluid in your body is to reduce or completely eliminate starchy carbohydrates in your diet. Replace it with fibrous carbs instead. Compared to starchy ones, fibrous carbs are loaded with fiber that can help flush out toxins. Starchy ones retain two more water molecules, which causes bloating.

breast weight
Your breasts would normally weigh more during this time because you are breastfeeding. One of the best tips to burn calories is to breastfeed. Breastfeeding your baby gives her the nutrition she needs, but it also helps her burn up to 500 calories a day. If she slowly reduces her food intake, she can lose the extra pounds that she has gained. Just be sure to reduce your food intake but fill up on nutritious foods.

hormones
Hormone production is still a bit crazy at this point. It starts working normally again after a few months, but you can help stimulate normal hormone production through physical activities. When you’re physically active, you’re actually increasing the production of dopamine and endorphin, which are actually mood boosters. They can make you feel better about yourself and this prevents mood swings.

If you’re still concerned about your continued weight gain after pregnancy, you may want to see your doctor. They can do tests to see if you have thyroid problems, which is what usually causes rapid weight gain. But whether it’s an underlying medical condition or not, it’s important to have a healthy and active lifestyle.
