Fall 2018 Anime Watch List

This latest season of anime has brought with it a storm of great stories. I usually never keep up with a lot of anime at once, especially during the season, but this time is an exception.

So, let’s review what I’ve been up to this season.

Sword Art Online: Alicization

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of SAO. This season has brought great joy as season 3 is finally here. I’m super excited since I completed the light novels, so this is the first time I know what’s going to happen. It will be interesting to see how much they stick to the source material and how often they deviate.

The story is set after the GGO incident and after the Ordinal Scale incident. Kirito is doing a part-time job for Rath, working with a machine called “Soul Translator”. He has the ability to create a virtual world indistinguishable from real life.

After being attacked by the third perpetrator of the deadly weapon, Kirito is rushed to the hospital! So… he wakes up in a mysterious, but nostalgic world. Where is the? Why is he there?

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai

It was a pleasant surprise! This has turned out to be one of my favorite anime of the season, just because of the banter between the two main characters. It’s so sweet and funny, I just fell in love with them.

The “Puberty Syndrome” is a phenomenon that affects adolescents. Currently, it is affecting Mai, a high school actress. She is finding that fewer and fewer people can see her. So, she periodically walks around in a rabbit outfit, to see if she gets any reaction. That’s when she meets a classmate named Sakuta…and he can see her.

That time I got reincarnated as a slime

The first episode of this had me hooked. I mean, any episode where a man’s last wish is to wipe the hard drive, gets my vote. This turned out to be quite a fun twist on the oversaturated genre.

Satoru is a middle-aged man who agreed to join his junior and his new girlfriend in a meeting. What he didn’t plan on was jumping between them and a criminal with a knife. Before he knows it, he’s dead, and suddenly he’s alive again…in another world…as a slime.

goblin slayer

Goblins, goblins, goblins.

Goblin Slayer surprised everyone with its very… intense first episode. While others were discouraged, I welcome the welcome change in the genre. It’s a serious show, with some moments of great comic relief.

Goblin Slayer is the name of an adventurer who only goes on goblin hunting quests. After saving a priest from a pitiful fate, he joins his group. Later, more and more come looking for him, looking for his abilities.

zombie land saga

I have never, ever watched an idol show. But… this season, I’m watching an idol show. This show is hilarious. I’m lovin ‘it. I don’t even care that it’s an idol show. Comedic jokes are on point.

When five former pop idols suddenly wake up as zombies, they have no idea what’s going on! Things only get weirder when their manager declares that they’re a new idol group, and they’re due to play shows! But of course, no one can find out that they are zombies.
