Who is a marketer?

Many people would think that the marketer is a person who only stimulates the demand for products and services in the market. In other words, marketers try to convince people to buy things they don’t need. Well, it is not that simple. A marketer is a person who uses marketing methods to promote a product. There may be many marketers, but there are only a few successful marketers. The primary way that a marketer’s success is measured is through the growth of the company’s revenue and profits. There are a few ways that a marketer can be successful.

The first thing marketers need to do to increase business growth is to find a suitable way to relate revenue growth to marketing. This can be done if the marketer can quantify a fixed percentage of the revenue growth as a result of some specific marketing activities.

An example of this could be the ad campaign during the first and second quarters that generated a 10% increase in revenue. When the marketer can define revenue as a product of marketing activities, he is empowered enough to define return on investment (ROI). This gives the marketer additional authority over business decisions.

A successful marketer has to push the other sectors of a company to take ownership of new technologies and tools, things that can improve customer satisfaction. A successful marketer needs to think with a vision. A successful marketer will also employ people who can do much more than their counterparts who are present in competing companies.
