Read on to learn a wonderful and effective raccoon repellant recipe that calls for organic ingredients like garlic and mineral oil.

What you will need:

  • 9 cloves of garlic
  • Mineral oil
  • Ground Cayenne Pepper
  • plastic spray bottle
  • closed glass container
  • Water

Note: All of these ingredients can be purchased at a grocery store or department store. Each item is cheap and easy to find.

To do:

Dilute 3 ounces of fresh garlic cloves. You probably only need 6 or 7 cloves to get 3 ounces of minced garlic, but having more on hand is always good.

Combine the 3 ounces of minced garlic with 2 tablespoons of mineral oil in a glass container.

Seal the glass container and let the mixture marinate for 24 hours.

After 24 hours have passed, combine 16 ounces of water, 1 tablespoon of ground cayenne pepper, and 2 tablespoons of the garlic mixture in a plastic spray bottle. Shake it well.

Put on your protective gloves (and goggles if you have them) and spray the perimeter of your property with the solution. Also spray areas where you have seen raccoons. Avoid common areas and areas where your pets play. Cayenne pepper can irritate their eyes and nose.

Note: Before you spray the perimeter of your property, be sure to test a small area of grass and plants to make sure your solution isn’t harmful.

Reapply the solution every 4 days and after heavy rain. Keep the garlic mixture refrigerated for higher potency.
