Don’t Become a Lawn Care Horror Story

I’ve already heard two lawn care horror stories this year. Both were highly preventable, with the use of a real, insured, honest, and knowledgeable lawn care professional rather than someone with a rake and lawnmower claiming to be a “pro.” I’ve even seen people driving around with a lawnmower crammed into the trunk of a car claiming to be “lawn care professionals.”

The first lawn care horror story of the year came last week when a lady called me for an estimate. She got to talking and she mentioned that she has hired 5 “professionals” in the last 5 years. Last year’s “pro” took the cake… not only did he mow the lawn during the drought when nothing was growing, not even weeds, and charged for it, but he was also charging her for care services of the lawn that were obviously not being done. way to January and February.

This next one is also very bad. Yesterday I got a call from a kind elderly lady who had two lawn care “pros” last year, which was the first year she hired someone to care for her lawn because she can no longer do it herself. Her first “professional” of hers “left her” as she says because she paid him in September, but he never showed up and her phone is disconnected. Your second lawn care “pro” sprayed weed killer along the sidewalks, the driveway, around the bushes, the landscaping, and the beautiful maple tree in the front yard that is decorated with a beautiful red mulch ( they sprayed the herbicide about a foot from all sides). these objects) killing all the grass around it. The only reason to do this is because the “pro” is too lazy to use or doesn’t even have a weed whip. Not only did this “professional” do this, but it was very obvious to me that she didn’t sharpen her blades regularly (or maybe never at all) as the grass wasn’t cut evenly, and there were even long lines of grass that had It hasn’t even been mowed because this “professional” missed them when they were “cutting” the grass. Sharp blades are very important to the proper maintenance of a lawn because they not only give you a beautiful even cut, but they also cut the grass instead of ripping and tearing it like dull blades would.

Don’t become a lawn care horror story, hire a real professional, not just someone who claims to be a professional because they have a lawnmower, and charge people to mow the lawn.
