While it’s not true that a puppy test will buy you the perfect dog, it can definitely help you bring home a mentally stable and calm one. However, experience and training techniques are much more important in the mental and physical development of the dog.
There are certain conditions of the puppy test and we will see them.
– The test must be carried out in a quiet place that does not have external distractions for the dog. The place must be unknown to the dog.
– The puppy should be tested when it is between 5 and 7 weeks of age. At this age, puppies are not completely attached to humans, however, their personalities are already built.
– The test must be carried out by someone other than the puppy, which will ensure that the results are impartial and reliable.
There are several tests that exist to test the personality of the dog. Let’s take a look at one of those tests. This test is known as the Campbell test. This test marks the puppies for 5 different criteria.

To assess social attraction, the tester checks the dog’s reaction by sitting at a distance. It is checked if the dog approaches the person, if yes, how does it hold its tail, high or low? It is checked if the dog explores the environment of her or just tries to run away.
To test the dog’s tracking ability, the tester will simply put a puppy next to it and walk around for a bit and then check whether the dog follows or not. The other things to check are if the dog jumps while walking or tries to bite people’s ankles. Does the dog keep its distance from him while he follows? Or does he just walk away?
To test how the dog responds to the compulsion, it is placed on its back on the ground and a hand is placed on its chest. It is checked whether the dog tries to violently bite the hand and escape, or shows an initial protest and then calms down, or just stays still and tries to lick the person’s hand. Make sure you do this on a soft surface or you could injure the dog’s back.
During social dominance tests, the tester will simply sit near the pup and gently poke it. The clues will come from whether they try to bite, climb on a person’s body, or just try to run away from the fitting room.
Finally, to test how the pup reacts when picked up. The dog gets up from the ground keeping the arms under the chest so that the puppy does not see the person. Here too, it is tested whether the dog violently tries to bite the hand and escape, or shows an initial protest and then calms down, or whether he stays still and licks the person’s hand.
The combined score of all areas determines your dog’s overall personality. If he is new to dog care, he should try to bring in a dog that is not very dominant, as it may be difficult for him to handle.
