Mastiffs have a very strong bite that can easily break a bone in a human. However, if you have a mastiff as a family pet you don’t want to be bitten by it for obvious reasons. Now, if someone is breaking into your home, you’ll want to make sure they’re disciplined enough to listen. I know that for me the way I managed to manage my Mastiff was through obedience training.
Obedience training for your mastiff will help teach him who’s boss. That if you can show him that you are the boss then he will listen to you. Now, this doesn’t mean he won’t have some stubborn phases that he won’t want to listen to you, but you’ll be able to command him better. Now, since Mastiffs are more of a pack animal than anything else, you as the pack leader will be able to be seen as the boss. That in the mastiff world, if you are the boss, you can almost be sure that you will be heard most of the time. I hope most of the time they listen to you anyway!
Now, if your mastiff starts biting, you’ll want to make sure you have him in some type of training. The training will teach you more about how to deal with this problem. I know for me, once my mastiff saw me as the leader of the pack thanks to obedience training, I no longer had this problem.
