As one of the most important cities in the world for the film industry, it is not surprising that Los Angeles is also one of the most important places in the world for the recorded music industry. Even some of its landmarks, like Capitol Records, which is shaped like a pile of albums, is representative of the city’s inherent musical culture. The A&M Recording team has long occupied a studio on Sunset Boulevard, which was built by Charlie Chaplin. The Warner Brothers also built a major record business in addition to their already successful movie business. On the other hand, Rhino Records made a business of searching through music files, repackaging them, and reissuing them for new audiences.
A bit of musical history
Los Angeles music, during the 1930s and 1940s, was mostly vibrant African-American music. He came from a small community. A handful of musical artists would congregate around Central Avenue and play. These communities spawned a number of great talents, including Charles Mingus, Buddy Collette, and Gerald Wilson. However, this partial music scene disappeared during the 1950s. By the 1960s, Los Angeles music was thriving again. However, this time he focused more on bands than blues men. Punk rock also prevailed in the music of Los Angeles; Bands like X, Black Flag, and Wasted Youth were among its promoters.
Modern Los Angeles Music
Although the city has produced few internationally successful acts, the modern music scene in Los Angeles is a thriving community. Here are some musicians of today and yesterday who are proud to have started out on the Los Angeles music scene.
Audioslave. This is an American hard rock supergroup that was formed in Los Angeles, California in 2001. The band is made up of former Sound Garden frontman Chris Cornell and former instrumentalists of another Los Angeles band, Rage Against the Machines, Tom Morello (leader), Tim Commerford. (bass) and Brad Wilk (drums). Their sound was initially dubbed as a mix of their two previous bands. But when the album came out, it was clear that they had created a sound that was clearly their own.
The boys from the beach. The Beach Boys are an American rock band that formed in 1961. They gained popularity for their tight vocal harmonies and lyrics that reflect what it’s like to live and be in a California youth culture. The creative ambitions of their vocalist Brian Wilson later transformed them into one of the most artistically innovative groups that earned them critical acclaim and influenced many musicians.
Today, the Los Angeles music scene is primarily made up of various types of music. From hip-hop to rock to rap, the list is endless and so are the artists representing Los Angeles.
