There are lots of fun things you can do when it’s snowing outside and there’s a lot of snow on the ground. Many of us as adults view snow as something that is a nuisance and not much fun. We forgot that as children we loved to go outside and play in the snow. Some of these things you can do with your children when they are old enough.
The first and most obvious thing to do when it’s snowing is to go skiing and snowboarding. There are many places across the country that have slopes for you to go down. Some of these resorts also have snow machines so that even when it’s not snowing, they can make snow. Not to mention, it’s fun to sit around a campfire after a long day of skiing and relax.
You can build a snowman or a snow woman. You have to make sure that the snow you use is good for packing or else you won’t be able to make the snowballs needed for a snowman. There are many ways to make one, so you’ll only be limited by your mind. When you are done with your snowman, you need to get a spray bottle and fill it with water. Once it’s full of water you’ll want to go outside and spray the entire bottle. This is to put ice on the snowman and make it last a bit longer than it would otherwise be possible.
Just like building a snowman, you may be able to build a fort to play with. If you are very boisterous, you could build an igloo. These will obviously take a bit longer to put together, but it will be worth it in the end. It will be a place for you and your friend to go. The benefit is also that it will be a little hotter in the fort than it is outside, since you will be able to block all the wind. Be sure to ice it like you did your snowman so it will last a little longer.
Don’t forget the sled. Sledding can be quite fun. You will have to explore the slopes around your house to find the most fun places to go sledding. There are usually a few places that everyone around you knows to go sledding, so if you need an idea, be sure to ask them. When sledding, you will have a few options in the types of sleds you can use. There’s the saucer sled, the slide, and the regular straight plastic guy. They each have their own unique characteristics that you should find quite amusing.
