TMJ, EFT and stress

TMJ stands for Temporomandibular Joint. It is a joint that connects the skull and the jaw, allowing the jaw to move. There is one of those joints on each side, right and left.

Tension in the muscles that control the TMJ is almost always something that I have linked to stress, frustration, and / or anger. These emotions can come as a complete surprise to the sufferer, however once the cause of the causes is found, usually life events, then the use of EFT to release the memory of these events from the jaw muscles it can have a liberating effect. Slowly but surely, the muscles can begin to relax, releasing the tension from the TMJ and its associated problems. Sometimes this happens in a magical session, but this is the exception to the rule.

Although the medical opinion is that the cause of TMJ disorder may be due to genetics, injury, arthritis (wear and tear, caused in my opinion by overly tense jaw muscles, due to emotional factors that cause teeth grinding), or Simply An Unknown Mystery, over and over again, EFT practitioners find that when the associated emotional trauma is released, the condition is alleviated or may even disappear altogether.

An example of this type recently arrived in my inbox. I have changed the wording, although I have permission to publish, to protect my source. This is what the reader of my EFT zine had to say, more or less: “I have had a TMJ disorder for several years. It started with grinding my teeth at night, when I had a very stressful job and could not disconnect my mind. at night.. I also have adrenal exhaustion, fibromyalgia and tummy problems. I am so dizzy with this ear congestion as a result of the TMJ problem. Can you give me a free script to help? “

Clearly, with adrenal exhaustion and other symptoms, there is a huge element of stress that is somehow trapped in the body. With EFT, we call out this stagnant energy and release it with a mix of liberating words and special acupressure. If you are new to EFT, you can download an instruction manual from many professionals’ websites, along with safety conditions and best practices, so you can follow the suggestions in this article.

This is a case for working with an experienced EFT practitioner who can safely, gradually and safely release the stuck energy that all that work stress left in the body all those years ago. If this is not available to you, here is a script that I think will be safe to use.

Configuration: “Even though I have this stress from that work stored in my jaw muscles, I have kept it for all those years, I want to let it go.”

Reminder: “This work emphasizes the muscles in my jaw and all that it represents.”

Repeat the above for 15 minutes a day for 6 weeks, without the use of numbers. While tapping, if you feel tears, fear, anger, or sadness, just continue tapping on all the points you like to use, over and over, without words, until you feel calm and more in control. Play this way for as long as you need. Then congratulate yourself on having the courage to post this issue.

I guess you’ve already tapped for jaw tension, to no avail. If you haven’t already, add the following daily procedure as well. First, rate the tension in your jaw on a scale of 10-0, where 10 is the highest and 0 is not. Keep tapping on the following until the tension is reduced to the lowest possible number for that day. Repeat this procedure daily for 6 weeks. In fact, you can repeat it as many times a day as you like, and I only suggest doing it once a day in case you don’t have time to tap more.

Setting: “Even though I have this tension in my jaw, I just want to feel better.”

Reminder: “This tension in my jaw.”

TMJ disorder can be alleviated, like many other conditions, by releasing the associated emotional stagnation. Try this protocol, wait 6 weeks and see how you feel.
