Mastiff Drool How To Deal With All That Drool

If you have a Mastiff, you probably know that they tend to drool quite a bit and if they look anything like my baby, it is mostly after they finish drinking from their water bowl. Then the slime decides to fall in large droplets that can turn a clean, dry floor into a wet, messy floor that needs to be scrubbed. However, here are two methods that I have found worked wonderfully in getting my Mastiff to control his drooling problem better than he used to.

1. Have a second bowl nearby

I know that for my Mastiff when he drinks his water he tends to make a big mess no matter how big the bowl is. Now you might be wondering why I say keep a second bowl nearby, but that’s because if your dog does something like mine, he’ll turn his head to the side when he’s done drinking to clean his double chin. Now for mine when it does this it usually spins in the same direction and the second bowl will catch almost all of the slime, which means less mess on the floor.

2. Get a rag of drool

Just like when you have a newborn baby and you need a cloth to burp, you will want to get an old hand towel as a drool cloth. Now when your Mastiff starts to drool you will want to wipe off any dirty droplets with this rag and then every other day wash the rag to prevent bacterial growth. This will help you clean the mess off their face before they hit your floor too, but you’ll also want to try getting inside their double chins because they hide some in theirs. Not only will this method encourage you to start cleaning it yourself, because they generally don’t like it being done.
