Is a paintball bazooka a good investment?

Yes, a paintball bazooka looks great, and against an immobile target, a paintball bazooka will dominate. Unfortunately, paintball bazookas are too impractical and will not be a good choice on the paintball field.

First of all, most fields will not allow you to use a paintball bazooka. So unless you frequently play ball outside of a public paintball venue, your big bad bazooka will just sit on the shelf. And even paintball fields allowed paintball bazookas. These bazookas have unbelievably low rates of fire… as low as it gets. You load it, then you shoot, then you have to load it again. Also, bazookas have ridiculously low accuracy. Of course, players can counteract the low accuracy issue by loading up a TON of paintballs. But that your paintballs that you put in a paintball bazooka will cost you. And for one shot, the price isn’t worth it, especially since the shot won’t be as useful in your gaming experience.

Paintball fields do not allow paintball bazookas

It’s true. You will have an incredibly difficult time finding a public paintball field that will allow these guns onto their field. Paintball fields occasionally allow the use of a paintball bazooka, but it is always for some type of specific scenario, and paintball field permission must always be granted. If a player is lucky they will be allowed to play a game or two with these weapons, but they are really a novelty item. So while people will think that including a paintball bazooka will be cool in the short term, eventually (and usually not in the very distant future) people will go back to using standard paintball guns.

Paintball bazookas have a low rate of fire

Most of the time you spend with a paintball bazooka will be spent reloading the barrel. It takes a good couple of minutes to load ammunition into a paintball bazooka, and then, yes, you can point and shoot. But then what? The process starts again. Can you imagine how vulnerable you are while reloading a bazooka? A paintball player with a bazooka usually lasts a very short time. The only exception is when that player is protected by other players. But the fact that a bazooka fires at such a slow rate, due to the long reload time, makes these paintball guns almost useless.

Their accuracy is nothing to write home about!

And that’s an understatement! Close range and tons of ammo are the only ways to have good success with a paintball bazooka. These guns are accurate to about 15-20 feet, after that the paintballs will be thrown in all sorts of directions. If the paintballs are going in all sorts of directions, won’t it be hard for opponents to dodge? Well yes, this is clearly the only significant advantage of one of these beasts. A single shot will shoot a large area of paintballs. Of course, an opponent will easily be able to see the beast of a paintball gun staring at him, and he’ll probably find some form of cover. With that being said, I don’t want to take this away from these big shots, because it really is all they have.

They are expensive!

First of all, a paintball bazooka will cost quite a bit. If you look around for some deals online, you can find one of these guns for just under $400. But boy, is that still a lot of money. A gamer could buy a decent paintball gun for that price. But the bazooka is not only expensive, it’s going to be hard to spend quite a bit on the paintball ammo you’ll need to power it. Some players stuff up to 1000 paintballs into one of these bad boys. Which is great and will have a devastating effect against your paintball opponents. But at what price? Can anyone really afford to spend 25 bucks or so for each shot? Maybe you can, but I would never waste that kind of money for so little profit.

They are huge!

Most people think that this is an amazing feature of paintball bazookas. But I’ll have to disagree… Paintball is a game of speed and stealth, and these mammoths prevent both. Opposing players will be able to notice him from a mile away, and it will be difficult to move quickly with a large, heavy object protruding from his back.

Conclusion

Paintball bazookas are a cool novelty, but the novelty will wear off relatively quickly. They are simply too impractical and too expensive to invest in. By all means, if you get a chance to try one, do it. Just make sure you’re not running the bill for wasted paintball dough.
