Christmas decorations to light up your holidays

On the gloomy, cold days of winter, Christmas comes alive with tinkling bells, twinkling lights, and the beautiful evergreen Christmas tree. Everything about this holiday carries the spirit of joy, hope, and festivity, whether it is Christmas planning, Christmas partying, Christmas greetings, or Christmas decorations. It’s a big celebration and, rightly so, requires a lot of preparation. Just as shopping and planning begin right after Thanksgiving, decorating activities begin at least a week in advance. With a little extra time and imagination, you can do wonders with your Christmas decorations. Therefore, it is always a good idea to start decorating your home early.

How to start? Well, the Christmas tree is always the central element of the party and, consequently, the starting point of the decoration. The whole family is hooked on decorating their fir tree with great enthusiasm during the pre-Christmas days. Bells, stars, beads, garlands, angels, stuffed animals, icicles, snowmen, cookies, nuts, stockings, gift boxes and other decorations are scattered everywhere to be placed neatly on the branches of the Christmas evergreen tree. The mind-boggling array of Christmas decorations adds to the Christmas delights and thus is a fun source for more Christmas decorating activities. There are gingerbread men, crystal snowflakes, silver icicles, ladies in red hats, colored balls and bells, Christmas patterned ribbons, red berries, German glass ornaments, Santa hats, little toys, angels and even handmade decorations from paper or cardboard to make the Christmas tree look amazingly beautiful. The lights go last, spiraling around the cone-shaped fir tree and to sign it in all its splendor. The brightly colored gift boxes stacked at the base of the tree are again a traditional sight and bring back wonderful Christmas memories. For a cute touch, sometimes people even choose to trim the base with a bunch of chubby teddy bears dressed in Christmas clothes. Why not try it this Christmas? It sure would be different fun.

In addition to the Christmas tree, there is still a lot left for decoration. I bet you can’t afford to stop decorating your walkways and patios at Christmas. If you choose to go Victorian, you can stock up on stockings or go the floral route for the big occasion. Flowers look elegant and fresh at Christmas, much like the Christmas wreath on the front door or the mistletoe hanging in the driveway. Then there’s holly and ivy to beautify your walkways and bring nature indoors. As eye-catching centerpieces, a large bowl filled with red apples, fresh oranges, and grapes would be a winning idea anytime. You can reserve Christmas figurines such as the Nativity Scene or Santa Claus and his reindeer for outdoor decoration.

However, no matter how many Christmas decorations you use for your Christmas decorations, do not forget the lights. Holiday decor and holiday spirit become bland without the splendor of holiday lights. So go ahead and light up your holidays.
