A True Irish Ghost Story

I want to tell you about a ghost experience that a friend from Ireland shared with me, but first a few general words about ghosts:

A ghost is the spirit of a dead person, or sometimes an animal, and sometimes manifests as much the same as it did in life, and is usually found in places where the person spent a lot of time while corporeal. The word “ghost” is also used to refer to any spirit or demon. Ghosts are usually found haunting the area they died in.

According to parapsychological circles, the appearance of a ghost is the almost constant occurrence of supernatural phenomena associated with a particular area, such as a house or a stretch of road, and is attributed to the activities of an incorporeal entity or ghost. Ghosting can include the physical appearance of a ghost, or some poltergeist activity, glowing orbs, disembodied voices, etc.

Ghosts are a strange phenomenon that has fascinated mankind for centuries. According to a 2005 Gallup poll, about 32% of Americans believed that ghosts existed. The word apparition is now used in the field of parapsychology, because the word ghost is thought to be too imprecise.

The belief in ghosts as souls or spirits of the person who has passed away is linked to the very old concept of animism, which teaches that everything in nature has a soul, including animals, plants, human beings, rocks, trees , etc.

Ghosts, whether you believe in them or not, are part of human history. Since man has sought the meaning of his existence and the knowledge of what happens after the death of a person, stories of encounters with the ghosts or spirits of loved ones have been told. For some it is a consolation, a confirmation that there is life after death.

Here is a true ghost experience that a friend shared with me:

Well I remember when I was about 6 my parents had bought a little hotel in the west of Ireland, I used to have really bad nightmares all the time since they moved in, one night I remember waking up in the middle. night and the bedroom window curtain was hanging in the air, and something said my last name, the window was closed and there was no breeze, I knew this was out of the ordinary and I started to roar.

Anyway we had a live maid in the field and I used to hear noises in the closet at night I would jump out of bed and open the closet thinking it was mice or something there was never anything in there when I opened it things progressed so that sometimes I would see the knob on her bedroom door turn and she would open the door and no one was there.

One night, she dreamed of being suffocated and woke with a start to see a “robe” (the robe a dead person is buried in) floating across the room and disappearing through the wall. My dad did some checking with the locals and it turned out that someone had hanged themselves in the chambermaid’s bedroom.

Needless to say, we didn’t stay much longer after that!

There is definitely something out there!
