The Enigma of Psychic Surgery in the Philippines Part 2 – Jun Labo

The enigma of Jun Labo.

Together with my colleague Patrick Hamouy (from Alternative Therapies) we met Jun and were his guest recently at his residence in the mountainous regions of northern Luzon, his location and altitude in the Cordiella mountain range keep him cool and pleasant during the heat and extremely humid summer months. His home is somewhat of an oriental palace, with pagodas, rooftop gardens, terraces within terraces, large statues of lions, eagles, frogs, gnomes, and an eclectic mix of painted murals and bas-reliefs of ancient Chinese symbols and warriors on struggle. The gardens are filled with beautiful flowers and exotic tropical trees and, of course, the pines of the local mountains. Jun has also dedicated a ‘sanctuary’ to his first car (a VW Beetle) on the grounds.

Jun is an enigma within the enigma, on the one hand he was (and still is) a highly influential political figure. He was mayor of the city of Baguio and twice governor of the province. He is world famous in the area of healing and appeared in the film ‘Exploring the Unknown’ (1977) narrated by Burt Lancaster. Jun is also proud to have been “officially” examined by doctors in the US He was hooked up to all kinds of monitors, at the University of Wisconsin, and observed by a team of doctors and surgeons, and his cure was proclaimed genuine.

So on one side there is the Jun Labo man, an outgoing, extremely confident, highly flamboyant personality, a former playboy, politician and celebrity, and on the other side there is the extraordinary and powerful healer Jun Labo.

Before the healing sessions, in which up to 40 people receive individual healing, Jun begins with his prayers that include confronting what in shamanism he would call the powers of the ‘four directions’ and burning incense to raise the energy and vibration of the healing room. It is in his prayers and meditation that exclude the healing session, that you feel a perceptible change, Jun changes in some way and you can feel that you are in the presence of “something” or “another world”. Jun at that moment becomes (and not only figuratively) a true ‘walker between the worlds’, a shaman in everything but name.

Jun always insists that it is the ‘holy spirit’ that works directly through his hands, and that he is only an instrument. Again we come to this situation where we try to describe in words the mystery of the spiritual forces that carry out real healing. What is the ‘holy spirit’, undoubtedly has the characteristics of an external force or power. However, simply saying that it is an invisible or disembodied being is not entirely satisfactory, although my experiences have indicated that it is what it is!

I remember a particular incident in 2000 when I was working with the psychic surgeon Roger Delin in Baguio. I would go to Roger’s house every day and sit with him chatting and drinking tea, and then all of a sudden he would stand up and say let’s get started. Regardless, on this particular day, we seemed to be sitting expecting more than usual. So I asked Roger why we were waiting so long, he said “the spirit hasn’t come yet, I get a push from the spirit when it’s here” It was at that moment, as if someone had given me a massive push in the back, I looked around but there was no one, behind me it was empty. I looked at Roger; he smiled and said “it’s time to start!”

Jun was born on December 23, 1934, in Dagupan City in Pangasinan, Philippines. His parents belonged to the “Philippine Christian Spiritist Union” (a spiritualist church that has taught numerous healers in the Philippines). Jun’s mother was a psychic dentist and made Jun go to church on Sundays. Jun was not interested in spending part of his Sunday at church and used to sneak out to play with his friends. On an interesting note, all the Philippine psychic surgeons that I have met, although they may practice in Baguio or Manila, all come from Pangasinan province, yet another enigma.

One Sunday, he was paralyzed during a church ceremony. In shock and fear, she witnessed the first appearance of Jesus. This was Jun’s first encounter with Jesus, who would become one of his spiritual guides for all healing.

His first experience of healing came when he accompanied his mother on a religious walk. A woman collapsed and Jun instinctively started rubbing her chest. Blood gushed out and Jun fled in fear. The crowd brought him back and asked him to finish the healing. Jun continued rubbing the woman’s chest and she made a full recovery.

Jun’s diagnostic techniques

To find out the condition of a patient, Jun holds a sheet in front of the patient and uses it as a form of psychic radiography. Through it, you can see spots inside the patient’s body. If the spots are dark, then the disease is serious (the location and number of tumors are shown to you). If the spots are bright, it is not so bad.

In the movie I mentioned earlier, Jun was operating on a Filipino patient suffering from eye problems. To diagnose the patient, Jun used his blade as an X-ray and in doing so saw something on the throat of Alan Newman (the producer of the documentary) who was behind the patient. After a successful operation on the Filipino, he asked Alan to lie down and operated on his throat, removing a large amount of pus. Newman later confirmed that he had had a throat problem for the past 8 years, but had not told him. After surgery, Newman was able to breathe freely for the first time in 8 years.

My personal experiences with Jun Labo

I met Jun three years ago, he was experiencing continuous lethargy and lack of energy. He put a white sheet a few inches above me, and then quickly, without saying a word, he spread my body with his hands. There was no pain or discomfort, just a feeling of being touched. He pulled a tangled mass of tissue from my chest. I looked back again and my skin had re-sealed. Then I mentioned to him that my sinus area was blocked, he immediately and without a word inserted his finger into my nostril and pushed it up. He then removed his finger with a piece of solid rubber mucus about 3 inches long, and the thickness of my thumb stuck to it. And that was it, a procedure that took about 10 minutes if that. I asked him what was wrong with my chest and he told me that one of my heart valves was blocked. I left his house breathing clearly and full of energy, a moment of true joy.

On my recent visit to Jun, I mentioned that my throat felt blocked. He removed a noncancerous growth the size of a tangerine from there, and then he made another opening, and a significant amount of thick pus and phlegm leaked out. Patrick, who was videotaping all of this, was making some comments regarding the ‘yeech’ factor while this was happening!

I witnessed and videotaped various operations on Patrick. And as the cliché goes ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, we will post some of our video footage so that people can see (and hear) for themselves.

When I talked to Jun about shamanism and how shamans heal, he resonates with it a lot and feels very comfortable with it, even though he doesn’t define himself as a shaman.

Jun has a desire to teach healers and has co-founded with Patrick (as vice president), the International School of Metaphysical Healing and Development. This school will be based in Baguio. I have been invited to be Associate Vice President and both Patrick and I will bring in people interested in receiving healing from Jun, as well as learning and training in this form of metaphysical healing. Jun takes a quiz on the apprentice or aspiring healer (glad I passed!). Take the person’s index finger, blow on it, say a prayer, and then run the finger across the patient’s body. The finger that runs through the body makes an opening and draws blood. The opening closes instantly as soon as your finger moves (I have this on video too).
