What is the difference between commercial cleaners and cleaning service providers?

Some people use the term cleaning services interchangeably with commercial cleaning, however they are not directly synonymous with each other. While some commercial cleaning service companies also offer cleaning services (and vice versa), they are not the same. So what are the differences between commercial cleaning services and cleaning services? Here is a brief overview of what you can expect from each different type of service.

Commercial cleaning

Commercial cleaning services take care of cleaning commercial spaces. Cleaning these spaces is very different from cleaning residential spaces, because there are many different challenges involved. For example, business companies must comply with a host of different legislation to ensure their workplaces meet health and safety standards. Cleaning companies often need to understand this legislation so that they can meet the standards that are required of them. Commercial cleaners are also more likely to encounter hazardous substances that require special treatment than cleaners who work in residential premises. Cleaning up commercial waste requires a completely different skill set than the skills that may be required when cleaning residential property. The tools and cleaning products they use are likely to be much stronger as well.

Cleaning services

Cleaning services teams take on some cleaning responsibilities, but they also take on a wide range of other tasks. Custodians may also take care of other areas of the building or maintenance of the facilities. This can include reactive and proactive repairs to ensure the building is kept in a safe condition. The list of tasks that a cleaning services team performs will often depend on the type of business they are hired for and the type of property in which they operate. Tasks that can be requested from custodians include; simple repairs, cleaning, heating maintenance, facility management and building maintenance. As with commercial cleaners, their services may be needed on the inside or out.

Choose the right one

To choose the right service, you should take the time to consider your needs. If you are renting a premises, or if your premises are very small, you may not need a full contract for cleaning services, however, you should still need cleaning services. When choosing, you should also consider the roles your current employees play, as they may already play a large number of the roles that janitors do.
