As the days go by and technology develops more and more, we realize how amazing some of the classic retro games were. Sega is known as one of the biggest companies that has released some of the biggest games in PC gaming history, which is why I decided to collect some of the most popular Sega games ever made.
Among the most notable games released by Sega are Sonic the Hedgehog, Gunstar Heroes, Mortal Kombat, and Streets of Rage. Sega’s Sonic game series won multiple awards, including Best Platformer at GamingXP’s Best of Gamescom 2011.
Here’s a quick review of some of the most notable and popular Sega games of all time:
Sonic the Hedgehog – Sonic the Hedgehog is a video game created by Yuji Naka and developed and owned by Sega. The franchise focuses on a series of speed-based platformers and the star of the series is the blue hedgehog named Conic, whose life is often interrupted by the evil Doctor Eggman. Usually, Sonic and some of his friends (friends like Talis, Amy, and Knuckles) try to stop Eggman and foil any of his plans for world domination. The first game in the series was released in 1991 and gained huge popularity.
gunstar heroes – Gunstar Heroes was released in 1993. It is a run and gun video game developed by Treasure and published by Sega. Treasure’s debut game was originally released on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in the 1990s and was later ported to the Game Gear by M2. In 2006 it was released as part of the Gunstar Heroes: Treasire Box Collection for PlayStation 2. The game gained incredible popularity during the 90’s and is still famous today.
mortal Kombat – Mortal Kombat is one of the most famous names in the gaming industry and to this day it is still considered one of the most loved video games ever made. It was originally developed by the Chicago studio of Midway Games in 1992 and is currently owned by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The Mortal Kombat series is known for its high levels of violence and gore, including fatalities (finishing moves that require a sequence of button presses to execute). Today you can find Mortal Kombat X on the App Store and Play Store, which is a modern version that has been adapted for mobile devices.
Sega is still known as one of the biggest companies in the field of gaming, and many of its games are very popular today. It is responsible for some of the greatest video game classics and as such is a major milestone in the gaming industry.
