Cabrini Green Housing Story of Street Cops, Gang Members and Snipers, by Greg Zito

Greg Zito, the author of this informational book, was a real cop primarily in various areas of the city of Chicago. Greg says it like it’s such a busy and dangerous profession, as the police have to enter various areas of the city wherever they are asked. They never know what is really happening in the place they are called or what they will encounter on the way to that destination. They usually have regular partners, but not always, so now they have to learn to depend on the partner who is next to them. These men and women of law enforcement should be commended for the work they do for all of us, sometimes against all odds of survival. A certain bond is formed between the forces of order, a bond that only grows closer when times get more difficult. They may have their differences but not when their partner or friend is in danger.

Greg Zito is not an accomplished author, as you will discover from reading this story, but he does a fantastic job of telling the reader what is happening in his own words and in his own way, sometimes with a duplication, but the facts manifest very well. well. Greg has been a part of law enforcement while in the US Army (where he was a military police officer), followed by a stint as an officer with the Chicago Transit Police Authority and then as a police officer. from Chicago. Certainly, he has had a lot of experience that led to his official retirement while disabled in 2002. He had been injured on the job and could no longer do active work. Greg’s heart is still in law enforcement, as I could easily feel by reading his story.

Greg Zito has been shot, beaten, injured, persecuted, harassed, argued, lost and won mental battles, has shot some culprits when necessary, and just about anything you can imagine a police officer could do. The housing projects in Chicago represented a major obstacle to the police force. Snipers hid on the different floors of the projects and shot, not only the police, but also civilians and other gang members, no matter who or what they hit. You have to read this book to get a lot more interesting information that Greg has written for the world to read and absorb. Yes, you are now retired, but you have written this book over a period of many years and have not lost interest in informing the public of its interesting history and many other law enforcement agencies that you may relate to.
