Bananas, the instant energy source

If you want a quick energy boost, there is no better snack than a banana. Bananas have three natural sugars; Sucrose, Fructose and Glucose: Combined with a fiber, a banana provides an instant and sustained energy boost. Research has shown that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute exercise.

Green bananas contain resistant starch, so named because it cannot be digested by the small intestine, which then ferments in the large intestine, often producing wings. Because ripe bananas are very easy to digest and rarely cause allergic reactions, they are a popular solid food for babies.

Bananas are also beneficial in preventing or curing these ailments:

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect on the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning sickness: Eating bananas between meals helps keep blood sugar levels high and prevent morning sickness.

Mosquito Bites: Before reaching for the bug bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana peel. Many people find it incredibly successful in reducing sweating and irritation caused by insect bites.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways to cure a hangover is to make a honey-sweetened banana smoothie. Banana calms your stomach and, with the help of honey, increases depleted sugar levels, while milk calms and rehydrates your system.

Smoking – Bananas can also help people who are trying to quit smoking. The nutrients in bananas help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Ulcers: Banana is used as a dietary food against intestinal disorders due to its soft and smooth texture. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in chronic cases. It also neutralizes acidity and reduces irritation lining the stomach line.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral that helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain, and regulates the body’s water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate increases, thus reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a banana snack.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin and help in cases of anemia.

Green plantains or plantains are indigestible and unpleasant when eaten raw. Because they are rich in tannins, they can taste bitter, although some of these flavors disappear when cooked. Bananas contain more starch than bananas because they are eaten before they are fully ripe. Some research has linked the low incidence of stomach and intestinal cancer to a diet rich in indigestible starch.

So, a banana is a natural remedy for many ills. Compared to an apple, it has four times more protein, two times more carbohydrates, three times more phosphorus, five times vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. So next time you see a banana, don’t hesitate to eat something!
